ROLLING ROAD MEET

15th September 2001

Power Engineering , Uxbridge

The first opportunity we've had for GTO owner's to check the power output of their cars. Another great day out was had thanks to Chris and Mervyn at Power Engineering, followed by a slap-up meal at Starvin' Marvin's! 12 owner's turned up and some interesting comparisons were made.

First up, we have some photo's along with some sound clips (click on the sound icon):

Simon Fitzpatrick during his first run

Jamie Beeston during his run

Barry Glazier's highly modded car (presented by Shelly). Some problems were detected during this run, mainly due to the high boost levels achieved which caused the engine to run lean. Barry will probably need larger injectors to keep the fuel rate up there with the boost.

M-Pro (Mike Hedges) during his run. Mike's running with a bleeder valve and there has been a suggestion recently that Mike ought to do a compression test to check out that everything is okay.

Simon Baker during his run

Ewan Kingham's run

My car waiting to be set up

And again. No pics or sound as I sat in it during the run. My car is pretty much the same as Simon Baker's, but I have a K&N FIPK and he doesn't. Even with the K&N on my car, Simon still managed to produce slightly more bhp and torque which makes me wonder how much lower my car would be without the K&N.

Simon Edwards' run

Simon Fitzpatrick's second run but this time with Ewan's K&N filter bolted on. We saw some remarkable figures, with Simon's car showing an increase of 18bhp (peak) and 11lb/ft (peak) compared to his first run with the stock air filter. It's possible the gain may have been so good due to a clogged up stock air filter on his first run, but I don't know what state his stock air filter was in.

Note: Some boost pressure readings were measured in bar. I have converted them using 1bar = 14.5psi so some of these are very approximate
